About Me
- Laini Taylor
- I'm a writer & artist. I live in Portland, Oregon with my husband Jim (also an artist) and our small daughter, Clementine Pie. My novels are Dreamdark: Blackbringer, Dreamdark: Silksinger, and Lips Touch, which was a finalist for the 2009 National Book Award. My next novel, Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Little, Brown) will be out September 27, 2011. I believe our dreams are REAL THINGS, not wisps and air, and it is our job in this life to make them come true, because no one else will do it for us, and because this is our one and only "wild & precious life"!

I found your blog a week or so ago and was happy to see that you participate in Sunday's Scribblings!
You are a great, refreshing, original voice.
That was SO good and sweet it made my eyes teary and you know what a meany I am so thats a very huge deal. Nothing makes me cry, ever, so good work!!! Can you submit that to something like Cricket? It was really truly moving.
I meant to just browse by this time because I really meant to get dinner going, but I got hooked! I agree about the Cricket comment, you should send it in.

Laini, this story was truly magical! I started out thinking "what an interesting superstition and one I've never heard of." Then after I had gone a bit farther I decided no, you had made it all up and it was just entirely your own delightful creation. So very interesting to have you tell us at the end that it was really a superstition you have read about, but you brought it to life for us all. Thank you!! And I am so glad our true and loyal little Pippin got the prize which she richly deserved.

hi there! Last night I had watched a particularly scary episode of CSI (don't ask - I watch it to be less homesick - weird, I know!) and I was too nervous to go to bed so I came by here and was delighted to see a piece of Laini-fiction!! (Although sometimes you can scare me too!!) and I went to bed smiling and dreaming of spells and happy endings in orchards. Thank you! I think that you should collect all of these in a book and get it published - they are truly magical!

Wow, I couldn't take my eyes away from the screen as I wondered what next? what next? What a beautiful rhythm you have in the telling. I could feel that beautiful Irish lilt.
