My tribe of genius ninjas

If you're interested in my plans to raise a tribe of multi-lingual telepathic genius ninjas, you may read the new interview just posted at Studio Online.

But that's false advertising. I don't reveal any of the details of that scheme; Jim & I prefer to keep our plans for world domination secret. However, you can read details of my childhood and work habits there, and about how my life is not as interesting as my characters' lives. Do I wish it was?

That's been a theme in my thoughts lately -- would I really want to live one of my own stories? Would I want to have to save the world from a shadowy ancient evil? Would I want to find my fate intertwined with that of a mysterious race of demons? The answer is: Heck YES! (But only if I got the magic powers that went along with it.) And yes to vampires and zombies too. And dragons! Dragons for certain. You?

{thanks for the interview, Cindi!}

Great interview. It's so fascinating to get a glimpse of your writing and art process. I want just an hour inside your brain to see how all those ideas crash together and come out whole.

As you know, sign ME up for the saving of the world from a shadowy evil too (as long as I had super powers as well of course :) We'd TOTALLY need to bring our camera though so we could put up blog posts of our adventures along the way! :)

I thnk I already am trying to save the world from shadowy evils, and I could do with some super powers some days - any tips on how to develop them?

Thanks for sharing the interview...so inspiring, as always (farting dog and all). Your tribe of genius ninjas will likely be just another amazing creative endeavor! As for the mango tasting, get going, woman! Some of us are eagerly awaiting your reports on mangoes around the world...
Love,
D.

What a great interview - If you had magical powers (in addition to your usual artistic and writerly ones), I would definitely want to read your blog posts about fighting the vampires, zombies and mysterious race of demons - and I'd want to see the photos of you with your 10-foot leather batwings, too.

But I'll settle for reading your future posts when your multi-lingual ninja genius children take over the world!
(I'm assuming they will do this through a non-violent, cupcake coup :-)

Laini,
First - I love your ladies. receive done for Christmas from a friend in 2006, before I knew of your blog. Second, congrats on your nomination for the ALA award! Fabulous! Guess I;ll have to get it and read it even tho I am well beyond the age of the intended audience! btw - The winner of the ALA award 2 years ago was Jeannie Birdsall. She lives in, and wrote the book in, my former home! She has taken great care of my gardens there too...expanding them beautifully! Third, thanks for turning me on to Liar's Dairy, by a fellow Massachusetts resident. I loved it. Forth, I like your lizards but as for Ninja's, tho they were created in the town next door to me, Northampton, I prefer pond turtles myself. Come visit my blog and you will see pictures of my 3 new turtle babies, soon to reside in my water garden!
