Thank you

Deep thanks to everyone who has emailed and left supportive comments about Shiloh. It's wonderful to know you're out there sending your love. Tonight my parents and Alexandra are coming over to get their last cuddles and to eat a breakfast dinner of pancakes and fruit, and to feed Shiloh (and Leroy too, of course) treats. Each day that has passed has made me more certain this is the right decision, but it still very surreal. For those of you who have been through this, thank you for sharing your own stories. It helps.

Oh Laini. I am so sorry! I know how hard this is, no matter how you realize it is the right thing now.

What a dog you have had. A good freind. And sure is just beautiful!

((Hugs))

I am really going to miss Shiloh Laini. You've been the best doggiemama she could have hoped for. I pray she is going to a place where cookies will rain down from the skies all day long in thousands and thousands of tasty flavors.

Daer Laini,

We feel so honored to have been able to say our goodbyes to Shiloh tonight....

Helping her stand made me want to cry, poor girl...

We will miss her warm fuzzy fur...

We are sending lots of love her way and wish her a safe passage into a land filled with all her favorite things.

Oh Laini, I got shivers and tears reading your last post...I am so so sorry that this time has come. I have gone through this more than once and it is heartbreaking. BUT, you are making the best decision for your beloved dog, and that is why you are doing this.

I will be thinking of you tomorrow, and I hope that both Shiloh and you and Jim are at peace.....

This isn't the right place, but. I wanted to tell you I nominated you for a "perfect post"...

I hope you are doing okay, sweetheart.

Wishing you the warmest thoughts right now, sending strength your way.
I just had to put down my Katie (a cat) after 17 years this past September.
I cannot what it will be for you, but for me, usually the actual experience is incredibly sad but somehow peaceful at the same time. May you pass the next week in warm hugs and funny nostalgic stories.

Dear Laini, you don't know me. Just came here through Amber's blog. But it doesn't matter...I feel that I know you through what you are going through today. I'm so sorry for your loss. And I want you to know that I am sending blessings for your family, blessings for your sweet love dog, and blessings for the coming days. Yes, breathe....

You've been in my thoughts all day today. Richard sends his sympathies too. We both know the sadness of losing a good doggie and hope you are gentle with yourself in the days to come.

Go and get the book pet loss. It is never too late to read this book. I have been in your shoes and know the pain, indecision, fear, and loneliness you are experiencing. I wish you courage and hugs. This is the hardest thing to do, but also the best thing you can do for your friend. Tearfully,
Jeannie (in the Tri-Cities)

It is a small thing, but I'm so glad that these little messages of love and support do help.

Thinking of you all today.

Wishes of comfort to you in this time. I'm so sure that dear Shiloh had the best life a sweet pet could have with you as a doggie mum and there is lots of wonderful in that. I really believe that the animal spirits who come into our lives will always be there.

Oh Laini, I feel so bad; I've been so caught up in my bookworld, I missed seeing this, and had no idea it had happened.

Your last post was so beautiful and moving and really summed up what the amazing dog-human bond is all about. I loved seeing the photos that captured phases of Shiloh's life. As you know, my Jade has the "kitchen floor" back leg problem. This all feels so close.

Thoughts and love to you and Jim--and also to Leroy.
