baby name!

We've been back and forth on names for the little wiggler. The list grows and shrinks, then grows again. Jim has taken to throwing out random words, and yesterday while we were walking Leroy, he came up with an excellent one:

Ready?

Professor. Little Professor Di Bartolo! Can't you just picture an adorable tiny girl sitting in first grade with her hand raised, and in order to call on her the teacher has to say, "Yes, Professor?"

Ha ha ha!!! We love it. The situations for hilarity are endless. While it's unlikely we'll actually name our daughter that, it is highly possible I'll use it for a character one of these days, so: don't steal it :-)

Tee hee hee.

Oh, and by the way, you might not have to experiment with this to know, but I discovered it yesterday: yellow is not the very best choice for toe nail polish, unless you are going for a slightly diseased look. What can I say? When it comes to color, I am impulsive. At least my shoes are mostly closed-toe at this moment in time. (But if you see me in the next few days, ask me to show you my yellow toe nails; I shall oblige.)

Cheers!

You can always use it as a middle name!

Nickname! Whatever you actually name her, call her Professor sometimes for fun.

That is too funny! I agree with PP--nickname her Professor and make the teachers call her that! :D

If you did name her or a character Professor, what would you call her for short?

In Paper Towns, by John Green, there is a very minor character who changes his first name to Dr. and makes his first name his middle name.

I finally read The Graveyard Book last night and loved it! Thanks for the recommendation.

Love it. Not the name so much, but the hilarity. When I was pregnant we spent many nights laughing over ridiculous names we'd come up with.

Fantastic name! My suggestion is Story I remember you saying it was a beautiful word in one of your posts Story Di Bartolo seems kind of apt Something you two created together etc

(Mind you Andrea's nice too)

Nice choice! It's so much better than Pilot Inspektor or Audio Science... and right up there with Moxie Crimefighter, hahaha.

Andrea, I do really like Story!

And Jen, ha ha: we love Moxie Crimefighter :-) Not so much Pilot Inspektor, and I hadn't heard Audio Science before. Who's is that?

Oh, I love Professor! It also sort of guarantees her a spot on Jon Stewart Jr.'s Daily Show in the year 3000.

Oh, wow! Professor is SO CUTE!! When she's a woman it might work too. It'd be cool because everyone would think she works at a college or something!!!

And wow, STORY is so cute too!

Either way, let's keep her toenails non yellow.... ;-)

I love this name! It kind of calls out for an equally fabulous middle name, like Toodle Pip. That way, if people start calling her Toodle Pip, she can correct them and say, "No, no..that's PROFESSOR Toodle Pip, to you."

Here's a site that I use for character naming and hours of procrastination:

Geeky, geeky fun. Hey, if you name your daughter Professor, maybe you can start a trend!

It could be worse. My husband has decided his favorite name for our baby is Dagger. Dagger or Gauge. And he's serious. I'd welcome a name as normal as Professor these days.

BTW - great meeting you at SCBWI last week. I'm was the other knocked up one there -- the one who unloading my freeloader two weeks before you are (hopefully). Hope you're still feeling great. :)

SF has been wearing yellow lately and I must agree - it's not a healthy looking shade :)

I have sent my list of names, so I will not add to the confusion, but what about little Lizzie? don't ask me why I thought that was cute tonight. Or Hadley? Or what's the name of that place you want to live in Italy? Maybe that?

Dude, are you kidding? Dagger is an awesome name! *capers about madly* So sorry. Kipin had far too much soda this week. *sheepish grin*

Think of the nickname that your child will be given by others. Mmmmmm

"Story" is the perfect suggestion. So appropriate and just so cool with your last name. Now what kind of a nickname would they make out of it? Sto or Stor ... (too funny, but better then Pro) Hey, I think Story could be used for either gender couldn't it?

I have to agree with most of the previous comments.... "Story is really sweet" and I seriously can't stop laughing over "Professor"!! Especially your senario of a teacher calling a little girl "Professor"!

Oh dear God, you gave me a fright!
My expression: 0.0
My words: Is she serious?!
Thank heavens you did not really choose that for your daughter. :) Not that I wouldn't support you in your very unique choice! ^_^
Though I am intensely curious what you and Jim are truly thinking!
Please share soon. :)
