This is not a picture of eggs.

Look at this.
Whyever am I posting a picture of scrambled eggs, you ask. Because it is not scrambled eggs. It only looks like scrambled eggs. Like, exactly like. But it's not!. What it is is a baking disaster. Alas, this heap of rubbery awfulness was supposed to be . . . are you ready for this? . . . clementine chiffon. You know, like lemon chiffon only clementine? Chiffon: light, airy, lovely? Not rubbery and scrambled eggy! Wah! I did various things wrong during this first effort at baking a clementine pie, and unlike the "baking" of the "real" Clementine Pie, which I did perfectly -- iif I don't say so myself . . .
. . . this pie was an unmitigated disaster. After the photo, it was scraped into the trash. Sigh. We were having some friends over, but luckily I had also made s'mores bars and gingerbread cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, so there was ample sweetness without the miserable pie.

(Wow, I'm super tired right now! But determined to put up a post!)

Our friend and doula Kristen was here last night, and she brought her friend Robert, who brought his friend, Christmas squirrel.
And Christmas squirrel in turn brought his friend, Farah Fawcett's head.
Of course, I never pass up the opportunity to get my photo with a dead animal.
Christmas squirrel was a lovely guest. He ate very little and entertained everyone, as a true Christmas squirrel should.

(Eyelids very heavy. Must. Sleep.)

Cheers!

Christmas Squirrel wouldn't be so bad on his own, but the HEAD brings things to a whole new disturbing level.

Sorry about the pie, I have a difficult time with anything other than regular fruit pies...my chocolate cream pie is always chocolate cream soup. Christmas Squirrel MUST have been entertaining, just seeing his picture entertained me :)

Laughed out loud when I scrolled down and saw Farrah's head....it's so weird, and yet, somehow perfect for a Monday morning before work....

Thank you for starting my day off!

I thought the "eggs" were frosting and I anticipated a Christmas cupcake frenzy. But Christmas squirrel was just as fun.

I think your version of Clementine Pie looks much yummier and I'm pretty sure you'll never surpass that perfection there!

And your chiffon looked like a big bowl o' butta to me!

You have the World's Cutest Baby! I just want to SQUISH her! Also, yes, having already made s'mores bars and some truly scrumptious-sounding cupcakes, I would not stress too much about the demise of the other Clementine Pie.

I love that picture of you two! It is so ..."Seussy".

You sure got the real Pie right.

Christmas Squirrel has a tremendous amount of style. It's a classy guy that brings a hostess gift and you can't go wrong with Farrah.

The fatigue is Not Permanent. Promise. You will find a mom writer groove eventually. It takes a little practice and a lot of experimenting.

The main thing is to remember that you are not so much losing writing time as gaining depth!

Hang in there and call if you need a little mom writer chat!

this is so much fun...so happy I hopped on by! (very squirrel like, mind you)...your right..YOUR Clementine Pie does look perfect as opposed to the clementine pie...I've prepared many a disasterous meal throughout my 21 years of marriage...my kids remember all of them for the past 15 years and never let me forget...YET they seem unable to remember that most of the time they like my cooking!!!! Go figure.

Happy Holidays
