Long Arms & the Crazy Dolphins

(I went with a very simple kind of "Christmas tree" in my writing room: white branches in a white vase, with only these 2 ornaments on it. I love the way it looks.)

I was inspired to put up a quicky post by this weird and cool piece of "news" I just saw on abcnews.com: in China, the world's tallest man was asked to put his super-long arms to good use by reaching down the throats of a pair of sick bottlenose dolphins, to remove pieces of plastic they had ingested that were making them sick. How cool is that??!!?? Freaky cool. It showed pictures of him up to his shoulder in dolphin mouth. Huh. Good old long-arms! (My mom has a cat that eats plastic too. We'll have to search for the world's smallest person to reach into his little cat stomach.)

Speaking of dolphins, if you haven't seen the animation Crazy Dolphins vs the Mad Cows, click here.

And I am pleased to say, the baking has come to an end. The tally (between my mom and me) was 21 kinds. Here's a picture of some cookie tins in progress:

They went in the mail today and I can safely say I won't be baking again until next November, with one exception to make Jim's birthday cake in April! Or rather, his birthday pie.

Birthday pie takes a LOT of practice Sweetie so just to make sure that you're ready for the big day, you should make one every week for training! :)

MMMMmmmmmmmmmmm :)

How fun that you have a little tree in your writing room. And really, really cool that you have a writing room. :)

Those cookie tins are perfect. Oh my. Did mention I've never met a cookie I didn't like? It's why there's no cookie baking going on in this house.

My hubby likes pie for his birthday as well! Come to think of it, his birthday is also in April! :-) Your cookie/treat tins look amazing. I am sure that all who receive them will be extremely happy.

Your little tree is awesome!

shhhh! Don't tell your Mamatush but when we set up the toys in the toychest last week I secretly left the bathroom window open a teensy bit...then last night in the wee morning hours I creeped back in, super tupperware and all, and emptied your mom's cookie tins into my beautiful tupperware.I'd never had 21 different types of cookies in one day- simply scrumptious- thank you to you both!

Mmmmmm, cookies, pies, baby Christmas tree (I'm going to steal that idea!) ... I just love your blog.

tee hee. You said, "a man with tiny arms". No one but you would have thought of that.

Oh my goodness, Laini...I made the coconut-cream filled macaroons and they are scrump-dilly-icious. A big, big hit! Thanks so much! Happy Holidays to you and Jim and Happy Howlidays to the pups.

The cookies look delicious - all 21 kinds. If you came up with 10 more kinds of cookies, you could hook up with 31 Flavors ice cream for an ice cream sandwich shop.

Wow, that IS freakily cool. (Although I'm sure I could stick my arm down the throat of any creature...even one as sweet as a dolphin.)

Ha ha ha ha! I SAW that on the news! It made national news here in the UK - complete with watching him do it and a shot of the plastic afterwards! Hilarious. I love a happy ending!

(I'm back now after two days without internet. Hope you are well! I'll try to ring you when I'm closer!)

I can not believe how much baking you and your mom have accomplished! Some lucky recipients of all those yummy cookies and delights. I like your Christmas tree in your writing room - simple and elegant.

I know for a fact Toot that you have been holed up in that big yellow submarine of yours all weekend long-now put up a new post, for the love of God. The people will not stand for this! Don't make me come over there and take your armoire (& lime bench & daybed AND Indian bookshelf). Hop to it!

OMW I might be one of the smallest people on earth, but I don't love kitties enough to shove my hands down their throats! EW! Plus they have sharp teeth.
