Christmas tree -- already?

We got our Christmas tree yesterday, probably the earliest we've ever gotten it. Clementine helped pick it.
She was most helpful with the decorating as well.

Speaking of trees and Christmas, I got a cute advent calendar in Seattle the other day.
I loved the advent calendar as a kid -- my mom has one sewn by my grandmother, with pockets for candy, and my brother and sister and I had to take turns getting the candy. So we'd count ahead to see which days would be ours, and swap the candy around so we'd get what we wanted. It inevitably became the War of the Candy. Ah, memories . . .

And, oh, also spotted in Seattle:
Cute. No cupcakes were accosted by us. We had leftover pie waiting in the car and ate it with plastic forks before driving home to Portland!

Am I a bad mom, because we don't have an advent candy thingy? I guess we should get one. Lord knows the kids need another reason to fight. lol

That advent calendar is so fun! We used to have a Countdown to Christmas thing we hung little numbered hearts on, and for some reason my little brother and I always fought over who got to hang up the hearts. I think siblings just fight over everything. :)

Neat calender! They don't usually come in 3D or tree shape, and I wish the signs in Virginia were that clever.

Oh, dear. So cute! We just decorated our tree and my little boy (nine months) is obsessed. He's crawling so quickly now, and he makes a bee line for the tree to pull off everything he can reach. Then, he crawls off at top speed, grinning like crazy. I put it back on the tree...and here he comes again.

Sigh. Adorable, but...sigh.

I'm so happy the Laini holiday posts have begun! And, seriously, has there ever been a cuter baby than Clementine?

(NO. SHE WINS.)

Jarrod and I are getting our tree this weekend :)

That's an adorable advent calendar! That would be awesome to have a homemade one. We have the ninety-nine cent things, made of cardboard and fossilized chocolate.

Seeing the holidays through the eyes of a little one just makes you appreciate things so much, don't you think?! My girls are 3 and 1 1/2 this year and we got our tree early as well...they are SO so so excited by it. Rosie (3) got up a 4:45 this morning and when I let her go downstairs she ran immediately for the tree, plugged it in (side note: ACK! NEED POWER STRIP.) and sat in the dark, mesmerized by the lights, whispering "it's soooo beautiful!".
I *almost* didn't want to go back to bed. ; )

Clementine is just a little sweetie Pie! You can really tell that she is just enjoying figuring out everything that is going on around her. I bet she loves books already!

Putting up the tree is definitely one of my favorite things about the holidays! Our family always started decorating as soon as possible after Thanksgiving. This year, Mom and I actually started getting things out after dinner was over! So don't worry - you're not as early as we were this year!

(Although I envy you your real tree... I'm surrounded by people who are allergic!)

My mom & I started decorating my parents' place as soon as Thanksgiving dinner was over, so don't worry - you're not as ridiculously early as we were! Haha. Dad was comatose on the couch watching football and we were singing along to carols and putting up garland. Definitely a little whacky.

I envy you your real tree - I'm surrounded by people who are allergic, so I've always had a fake one!
