Thank you for coming last night!

Well, that was awesome! Thank you so much to everyone who came to Powell's last night. I had a blast. That was the first bookstore event Jim and I have done. You see, since I worked in an independent bookstore all through college and sometimes introduced the author events, I know how often it happens that even for wonderful authors . . . no one shows up. Or maybe two people. So I was afraid to do bookstore events, though by now I felt confident that locally I could generate an audience, even if it was all friends and family.

But it wasn't all friends and family! In fact, it wasn't family at all, since my parents decided to go visit my brother this weekend instead. Hmph! (Just kidding!) No: there were strangers there who had come to hear me speak! That's so great. And there were KIDS! Really great kids, one who was wearing pointy ears, several who had wings, one who demonstrated Irish dancing for me upon request, and one who has an indisputable faerie name: Kestrel!

And, we got presents! Thank you for the presents! And for the G-diaper coupons!

In short, it was chouette. Thank you to Suzanne Young and Kim Kasch for emailing some photos, since I forgot to take pictures!

And here's Jim, looking as tough as he can with a pink baby blanket and pink purse:

Clementine is waking up now. Gotta go. Cheers!

It was nice meeting you, Jim and Clementine! I just finished reading Goblin Fruit and liked it very much, I'll probably be done with the whole book before the day is through.

I was the one with the Rathersting tattoos and wings!
Nice meeting of you, and Jim including Clementine Pie!!!!!!!
Clementine was sooo cute and even my little bro Henri (Henry) said that she was. You really inspired me to write this story, a bit of it is on my blog! Silksinger is really good so far and it gives me this wonderful feeling that I get when I read a book that belongs to my favorite book list=). Thanks for signing my drawings of Crow Willowwind and Owl Hedgehog!!

Come to Utah, Laini, so I can meet you!

I still haven't gotten a hold of Lips Touch yet, but that's probably a good things, since I have this silly college homework to do.

Congrats on a great signing, Laini (& Jim)! How cute that some kids showed up with ears and Rathersting tattoos. Now, if only you could do an event here in Chicago..!

So sorry I couldn't be there :-) BUT, I JUST BOUGHT IT TODAY IN MISSISSIPPI!!! I went in prepared to insist that they carry it (because sometimes they're not on the ball and don't have the latest and greatest) But there it was all pretty on the shelf.

I can't wait to read it!!!!

Woo hoo! go Laini!

You were great at the book signing, it was so much fun being there and getting to meet all of you (re-meet in your case). I am about a third of the way through Silksinger, love it so far... (big surprise :D)

I'm Sequoia by the way, I comment anonymously, because I don't have a blogger account, but I always sign with QZQ...

Who wouldn't want to read a story about goblins and girls who dream so hard about being pretty their yearning leaves a palpable trail?

Can't wait to get my clutches inside the pages.

Thanks for the tattoos! My girls decided to be dreamdark faeries for Halloween. They've informed me this will require wings, my old ball gowns, big brothers fencing gear and tattoos. Thanks for getting us started on the costume!

One of them finished Silksinger already and loved it! None of them are going to have anything to do with "that kissing book." Sorry :-)

WOO HOO!! Congratulations! I wish I could have been there. I am so, so happy you had your first bookstore event. It sounds like it was tons of fun — pointy ears! Wings! :)

(Love the picture of Jim with the pink accessories.)
