Madagascar or Mustang?

Ah, fresh air! Sky! Halleluja! Been SO cooped up lately. And I like to be cooped up. I like it a lot. If I didn't, if Jim and I both didn't, we wouldn't love Oregon winters like we do. But it isn't winter anymore and I've been needing to see some trees and sky, so Alexandra and I went on our favorite hike today to Eagle Creek in the Columbia River Gorge while poor poor Jim remained cooped up cranking on his comic book deadline.

I have MAJOR travel fever right now. The other day while Jim was making dinner I made him play "would you rather" with me with the Sierra Club magazine's listing of international trips. You can play too:

Which trip would you rather take?
(a) "High Arctic Sailing--polar bears, walrus, auks, and ice"
or
(b) "A Lao Adventure: From Ventiane to Luang Nam Tha"

(a) "To Machu Picchu and Beyond: Trekking in Peru"
or
(b) "Memorable Madagascar"

(a) "Mustang: the Kingdom of Lo Man Thang" (Nepal)
or
(b) "From Vienna to Prague: Walking the Czech Greenways"

(a) "In Search of Ahimsa: A Cultural and Wildlife Trek" (Bhutan & Assam)
or
(b) "The best of Belize: Rainforests, Ruins & Reefs"

{Help. I can't stop.}

(a) "Springtime in Western Turkey"
or
(b) "Adventuring in Patagonia"

(a) "Savoring the Amalfi Coast"
or
(b) "Cruising the Galapagos"

Oh, stop me, this is starting to hurt. Of course I want to go on all of those trips, and every other one they're doing. Let me look and see if there's a single trip I wouldn't want to go on. . . Nope. Of course not. I want to go on all of them. weep, weep. The whole world is out there. And I am in here. But I am feeling extremely determined to go on a really cool trip before this year is over. I vow. And not just to Philadelphia in October for Faerie Con (where I will have a booth). Somewhere AWESOME (no offense, Philadelphia, I'm curious to see you too).

And if I find a $10,000 bill forgotten in the pocket of an old pair of jeans, I want to go on this trip. Sadly, I think I gave all my old jeans to Goodwill. Drat. (Wouldn't it be weird if I had left a $10,000 bill in an old pair of jeans and if the person who had found it used to go on that trip? That would be bizarre. Speaking of bizarre, my brain is asking if it can go to sleep now. Good night!)

I'd take any of the non-sailing ones (get seasick) - though I have to practically be sedated to fly, too. But I love being in new places - heck, I'm excited to just be going to New Mexico soon.

Wouldn't that be amazing to buy pair of jeans at Goodwill and find a $10,000 bill?

Hey! My name is Bob Vance (of Vance Refridgeration) and I think I saw you two young ladies on the trail yesterday! One of you was wearing capri pants, ponytail, about 480 pounds, mumbling and bumbling moronically about something or other? Does this sound about right??? And then there was the other one, golden brownish-blondish shoulder length hair, very juicy and tiny, speaking very eloquently about the legal rights of buffalo wings, absolutely breathtaking and likely weighing in at no more than 118 pounds. If i had known it was you two out there on Cold Mountain I woulda stopped myself and said hello to you gals!

Do they even make $10,000 bills?!

Anyway.. I play a similar game with Dave..and all the answers are the right one's!

Right now, we are wanting to make our next trip somewhere in Asia too.. we are looking into Vietnam...Well... actually I have 20 trips planned already... will I ever have enough time to see it all?

Do not get the book ' 1,000 places to see before you die' unless you want to be really depressed! :) Luckily I have seen , 30 of them! ugh... I want more!

P.S. I heard Philly is nice...

A. I must see the northern lights.

(a) "To Machu Picchu and Beyond: Trekking in Peru"
or
(b) "Memorable Madagascar"

B. Off the beaten path. Plus I have already seen the movie.

(a) "Mustang: the Kingdom of Lo Man Thang" (Nepal)
or
(b) "From Vienna to Prague: Walking the Czech Greenways"

B. Gorgeous part of the world, and great beers.

(a) "In Search of Ahimsa: A Cultural and Wildlife Trek" (Bhutan & Assam)
or
(b) "The best of Belize: Rainforests, Ruins & Reefs"

B. Sorry to vote out your dream trip, but Belize is so close and intriguing.

(a) "Springtime in Western Turkey"
or
(b) "Adventuring in Patagonia"

B. Springtime in Turkey conjures memories of Bursa, nestled at the foot of the mountains, but choking in smog that even this LA native couldn't stand.

(a) "Savoring the Amalfi Coast"
or
(b) "Cruising the Galapagos"

B. Tough to demote risotto and canoli, but I would love to see the Galapagos.

Important Note: Davesap is going exactly nowhere for the next ten thousand years because he has three young geniuses to put through college!

Pay no attention to Alexandra's post. We have a very exciting national park trip soon out west. We are starting with the Grand Canyon, going up to Yosemite, then Mount Lassen, Waldo Park in Salem, Mills End Park before finishing up at Yellowstone. I am trying to figure out if we can squeeze in Death Valley between Grand Canyon and Yosemite. It looks like it's on the way but I am afraid that it might already be getting too hot.

Oh, somewhere with warm water and nothing to do but eat, walk, and read sounds very good right now.
