This seems like as a good a place to begin as any! Reading blogs the past few weeks - Alexandra's, Meg's, Claudia's, Swirly's, etc, I've been intimidated about starting my own. Especially for a first post, I felt so much pressure for it to be profound, I kept putting it off and just leaving comments for other people, but this "tag" thing seems like a low-pressure situation, so here goes:

Four jobs I've held:
Bookstore clerk
Travel guidebook editor for Lonely Planet
outdoor art market vendor (Portland Saturday Market)
now: novelist!

Four movies I could watch over & over:
Pride & Prejudice (the new one OR the BBC one)
Amelie
Cinema Paradiso
Lord of the Rings

Four places I've lived:
Oahu, Hawaii
Gaeta, Italy
Brussels, Belgium
Paris

Four TV shows I've watched:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Firefly
The Office (British & American versions)
America's Next Top Model -- don't judge me!

Four places I've vacationed:
Vietnam
Turkey
Prague
Italy many times

Four of my favorite dishes:
Mango anything
Dungeness Crab
Pizza
Gelato

Four Sites I visit daily:
www.marvelousmadness.blogspot.com
www.moreofme.blogspot.com
www.swirlygirl.com
www.salon.com

Four places I'd rather be:
In my future villa on the Amalfi Coast
at the bookstore
riding an elephant in India
an ancient forest in Scotland, because that's where my novel is set and I've never been!

There's that. Now I tag Jim so he'll have to put up new posts. And I'll try to think of something interesting to say for my NEXT post!

WELCOME!

Let me be the first of many (or at the very least, a few) to say that I'm glad to see you starting a blog of your very own. I'm always interested and amazed at what you come up with when you sit down to write, so I'm excited to see what your wiggly fingers will think up here! :)

Love ya!
Jim

I second Jim------! This is the best news I've heard all week and now I won't have to sneakyskate around your house, pillaging your journals to try and unlock whats going on inside that teeny, marvelous head of yours. I am so excited you started your own journal online so that many, many others can be be inspired the way I have been for almost half of my life now! HALF-can you believe it Fruitwop? We're that old now! Now next weekend when we have our girls weekend away we can both bring our laptops and write and giggle the weekend away!

Thanks for your comment about Portland on my blog. My husband and I have been talking about it ever since. And congratulations on your novel! What month does it come out in 2007? Mine is March. It felt really far away at first, but it doesn't seem so distant any more.

Congratulations on starting your blog! It's already full of light and energy and inspiration. I know you will touch so many with all you have to offer. From the look of the outpouring of affection here, I'd say you're doing so already!
