Twilight Hilarity & Wizard Rock

I can't even imagine how cool it would be as a writer to see your work take on a huge new life beyond your actual words: movies, fan fiction, how about wizard rock? It's amazing. I got crazy-excited when one young reader (hi Lexi!) created a super-cool faerie character who could live in my fictional world. Even to spawn spoofs would be amazing. I got this one from Fuse #8 and couldn't resist reposting it. The first one is the actual Twilight trailer. Watch that first. The second one is such a cute spoof. I love it. I don't know how they kept straight faces!

The real one:

Now the spoof:

Isn't that awesome?

Also, I just read HERE about other cool fan creativity -- the world of Wizard Rock! I knew there were Harry Potter-themed rock bands, but I didn't know there were over 400 of them!!! Steph's husband Jarrod actually got taped and interviewed for MTV for his contribution to the genre. How cool is that?

It is definitely a dream of mine to one day write something that spawns fan fiction. Some day.

Maybe I'll write some Dreamdark fanfiction. I've never written fanfic before.

that is hilarious! I saw another twilight trailer spoof...lemme find it... there we go. It does more with the other trailers they've put out too. *goes off to brew up some Snoshti fanfic*

oh my that is so damn funny. jon and i are cracking up watching that fan trailer.

and i am so waiting for the movie version of blackbringer. that would make me very, very happy. (as long as you had a big part in the story...because i only want it to be the movie you would love, that i would then, of course, love)

Just wait until my Talon/Magpie fanfic, CLAN OF THE CAVE BEAR style.

(Or maybe Jarrod will start a new band. Batch and the Hangnails? Bertram and the Peg Legs? Talon and the Knitting Needles?)

This whole post feels like a not so subtle ad to get me to start a Dreamdark rock band.( I feel pressured now.) However, I am willing to step up and get started this afternoon. I'll clear out your garage tomorrow (how convenient the timing is actually?) and get my band set up in there.

Hmmm... about fangirl art/trinkets? I could do that...

Also, my little brother just started listening to the Blackbringer Audiobook, and he's 17! I love that he actually listens to my book recommendations.

It's so funny you would write about this when just yesterday I was at the bookstore I told you about and noticed several books about Nicholas Flamel that were not by J.K. Rowling! Very cool.

Okay, it seems like maybe I was fishing for fan fiction. I wasn't, I swear! That's something you have to earn. I was just saying how cool it is. That's all! Seriously, no pressure!

(Steph, I do love Batch and the Hangnails, though! And Alysa, a Snoshti story! How fun!)

I've had this idea in mind to write some of my own "fan fiction" -- ha ha! But that's not really what it would be, I mean, there are stories I would like to tell that just don't fit in the novels. For example. . . I think I am going to write -- as a short story -- what Poppy is up to after Magpie and Talon and the crows leave Dreamdark at the end of Blackbringer. She doesn't get to go have adventures with them out in the world, but I bet it's pretty interesting what she's doing, training with Orchidspike. And meanwhile, Issrin Ev is being rebuilt and exciting things are happening in Dreamdark. So. . . I think I want to write that some time this year!

I had no idea that no one else had made a faerie character like me! I had thought that thousands of kids would have written in to tell you their made of awesome ideas.... fan fic sounds like a good idea, too.

My sister's name is Alysa....!!!!
