Busy weekend!!

Lots going on this weekend! Yesterday, Jim and I had breakfast with the fabulous Arthur Levine (editor of Lips Touch, as well as other, slightly less famous titles) who was in town for a writing conference.
We took him to Portland's Original Pancake House, a very famous place around here that claims to have "the most copied menu in the world" -- and for good reason! Their pancakes are amazing. I kid you not, back in the 1950s the owner's wife, a biochemist, "devised a way to break down the gluten in wheat flour used in pancake batter, to make light airy pancakes". Pretty cool. And delicious!

I tried to tempt Arthur into going to see Half-Blood Prince with us, because how cool would that be? But alas, he was too busy with conference commitments. We haven't seen it yet, but I can't wait. I've seen some great reviews of it so far. Anyone seen it? I'd also like to see The Hurt Locker and 500 Days of Summer in the next week or two, because I hear tell movies fall by the wayside for a while. I also hear, though, that the Kennedy School has a mommy matinee ("Let the babies fuss. We don't mind!"), so maybe we can sneak in the occasional movie :-)

Speaking of baby, our baby shower was on Friday, and it was fabulous! Thank you so much to my darling sister Emily and my best friend Alexandra, as well as my mother, for hosting and planning and cooking and making it so awesome. And thank you to our dear friends and family who are so generous and creative and FUN, and who came from near and far to celebrate with us. We love you!
Pics soon of awesome giftage. Some of the handmade stuff just blows my mind. SMOOCH!!

Then, yesterday, Jim and I also had a baby-care class, for folks like us who've never seen the inside of a diaper. We learned a lot! And from there it was off to the Rock n Roll Camp for Girls concert to see my niece and her friend rock out. An exhausting day. Today, the nesting continues. With all the hard work finally finished, it's down to reassembling the rooms, putting stuff back on the walls, and coveting new curtains and rugs to pull it all together. Getting close!

Cheers!

I say HP6 recently, but your optimism makes me want to not share my feelings on it! I really didn't enjoy it very much, I re-read the book about a month ago so all of what they changed just GLARED at me and...anyway.

Mmmm pancakes! I haven't had any in a while, I should rectify that.

He looks familiar! Lovely town you got down there Laini. Big fan of Portland. I haven't seen Harry Potter yet either, and Amy's making me wait to see it with her. Enjoy the movie and good luck with the Professor's big entrance.

So sorry I couldn't make it down for the shower. Hubby had a surprise biz trip to UK, so was single parenting this week/weekend. :( (I knew there would be a reason I had to give my gift to you so early!) I can't wait for news of the Grand Entrance, though!!! Sending you lots of good thoughts and best wishes!

Ohh, fun, baby stuff! :) I can't wait to see pics of the little one when it comes. Your house is looking lovely and I like the painted stairs idea. And, you, of course, look gorgeous and so happy! :)

I loved The Half Blood Prince, thought they did a great job with this one, and will be going to see it again in 3D! Though... of course, this movie is where it gets sad and stressful in the story, too. =(

The baby shower sounds awesome.

We took our son to the movies with us until he was about 18 months - we just kept going every week, and he slept through them for the longest time - it's worth a try! We had to walk out of one finally at 18 months... our great babysitter-free movie run was over - but them we discovered a drive in about 45 minutes away from us, and that was great for a while, too!

We liked the HP movie. They left out a lot of stuff that would probably have given my children nightmares, and the romantic tension was hilariously accurate.

That is an adorable picture of you and Jim. I'm so excited for you guys. Baby girls are so much fun!

Hey tinkerbell!

Saw HP on Thursday, in the Imax...and the first 10 minutes or so was in 3D! Very cool effects! a LOT was left out of the film (understandable as the book is 700+ pages long), but some key elements I hope will appear in the next two (they are splitting the last book into part I and II). Really enjoyed re-entering the HP universe for a little while...

Glad your babyshower went well...Bummer I couldn't be there..

Kiss to Professor and Jim!

I haven't seen HP6 yet - Boyfriend, Roommate and I are holding out for IMAX - but I just saw (500) Days of Summer and it is brilliant. So awkward, so heartbreaking, so hilarious.

I loved the new Harry Potter movie. I haven't read the book in awhile and I think that helps because I wasn't doing much comparing between book and movie. Also, I love how Helena Bonham Carter can make the despicable Belatrix kind of fun. If I ever go crazy, I want to be THAT crazy.

Oh, I've been thinking about you, Laini! So sorry to have missed the shower. It sounds lovely. Gabe and I finally made it to HP last night. I really enjoyed this one, though some of the changes they made to the story made me a little crazy.

You guys may be completely occupied next week, but I would love to pop by sometime and bring you a little something!

xoxo

We were able to bring Wyatt to movies for a while. I just nursed him, and he would sleep.Eat and sleep, eat and sleep... Georgie, not so much. Maybe a couple times.

Don't give up! Boobs are magic. ;)
