I started a new sketchbook/journal a few weeks ago, and so far it is just sketchbook and not journal, but that's okay. I've been painting and collaging in at midnight most nights it and having much fun:

(Remember the drawings,
here?)

Right now I'm working on a piece called "Zebra's Cupcake" :-)
Oop. Clementine awakes . . .
These are amazing. How do you do them? Do you make the designs on a computer? Do you cut things out of magazines? Do you paint/draw every little bit? Will you be willing to sell something like this? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Amber. So creative and beautiful. I would love to hear about your creative process.
ReplyDeleteHey fatsky! I've been up since 4;45 writing and just took a very happy "blog recess" catching up on your posts. I LOVE these journal pages!!!!! I can't wait to see them in person. They remind me of how I felt leafing through the Bulgaria scrapbook the first time when I opened it on my bday. I can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteOoh I love them Laini! They make me so happy :-)
ReplyDeleteKeep posting the journal pages-- such a treat!
These are awesome. I've been trying to keep up with you and start journaling again myself. You're 'SketchJournal' looks like I always dreamed mine would. Alas, I have little drawing ability, though I try.
ReplyDeleteOn the note of collaging, I was wondering if you collect bits a pieces from all over - magazines, newspapers, etc - to later include in your collages. Since I'm a pretty amateur artist, I was thinking that bringing outstide images in might help fill in some of the gaps and ease frustration.
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks, Laini.
That Eiffel Tower makes my heart happy!
ReplyDeleteMy multi-talented lady...MWAH! Lovin' them! :)

These are beautiful and will be so much fun for Clementine when she's older. :)
ReplyDeleteLove these! Clementine has the coolest artsy Mommy and Daddy! What a special home to grow up in!
ReplyDeleteHi Laini - I really enjoyed your library gig today! Mentioned it to my wife, showed her your recently posted sketchbook stuff tonight. She was all, hey wait, weren't her and her husband featured in an article in the Oregonian back in November? Sure enough. Pretty cool. I love your writing and wonderful collages.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the awesome work!
It’s funny how the journal turned out to be a sketching journal. I must say it looks so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe pages are so cute! I love it.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! And I love the wit: Go places, Here lives a happy family, Cats kill. Haha. Pims and Balthus concur.
