  1. My head just exploded.

That story is SO good for a morning's-worth of writing Sweety. You continue to intrigue and amaze me :)

I'm tempted to start drawing something based on it but your other stories already have me PRET-ty busy, so...

    xoxo,

  2. Thank you, sweetie :-) And yes, just because I goof around and cheat on my work-in-progress doesn't mean you get to. Back to work! Draw, monkey, draw!

  3. You had me hooked with the line 'strangers will be stabbed'. I loved the story.

  4. This is not a scribble; it's and inspiration! If you can do this as just a writing exercise,, it is no wonder that your book(s) (I'm waiting for the second one) is/are so good. I really enjoyed this, especially the coy playfulness of the poem intercepted by the child. A world of origami! How wonderful!

  5. Yes, I am jealous. That was a brilliant piece of writing, Laini. Bravo! :-)

  6. You are magic. What a great little story. It made me think about all things we think about people we don't know...

  7. That was very wonderful and strange.

  8. I highly enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing. I hope you continue it someday... you know, after NaNo. Best of luck!

OO! InkDeath. I'm supposed to be reading that. Err, well, I would be if NaNo hadn't devoured my time.

  9. Do save this tale to finish another day. As a reader, I found I could hear Puppuh's voice strongest in my head. I do wonder what became of the fast approaching riders, who never seem to arrive in this tale. I find a writing lesson for myself in those missing riders.

Thank you for an interesting read and a much needed writing lesson. A first draft can be a nice read and a nice writing lesson too. Again, thank you very much. You have been a fine teacher today.

I'm jealous, but I'll get over it. Thanks for recommending The Gypsy Crown. I stayed up late reading it last night.

And I'd really like to see more of your origami story. When you're done with your sci-fi thing.

That was mesmerizing. It’s the first fiction of yours I’ve read. (I don’t get out much...LOL!) You’re a bona fide spellbinder!

  12. Oh Laini --

You are so talented, talented, talented. This was marvelous.

I wish I could borrow your imagination, at least for an afternoon...

  13. So very beautiful! I want to read more! I see such pictures from your words. But I like that you're not finishing it (just yet at least). I like imagining more. I AM glad no one was stabbed though.

  14. I'd like to come and live in your brain, and then I'd track down this particular storyline, and read the rest myself. You need not write it at all, that way.

A world of origami. You are fearless to create one where there would inherently be problems (light? fire?) but you'd already worked them out. WOW.

  15. I loved the imaginary world made of origami. How original! Your writing flows.

Laini, your story is brilliant. I'm not just a little jealous, I'm insanely jealous. Good work!

  18. But...but...you can't stop there! I want to know more! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! You had me hooked from the very beginning and now I must. read. more. Maybe someday? Pweeeeeze?

    Sunday scribblings indeed. Hmph.

  19. Seriously. This has got to be bigger. Bring us a BOOK, woman, because the world with the folders is TOO cool. You've driven me to random capitalization again, so it must be. :)

  20. Wow, this really draws the reader in and holds on. Brilliantly written.

  21. These book arrivals are so hurting my feelings. I've told the sad tale to all of my equally envious friends... Oh, if only I were a judge :-(

    Enjoy your spoils.

  22. Hey, but, ummm . . . what happens next? My mind lays in anticipation of descriptions of other strangers (and what they do) on the road! And where that one went to! And and and!

    Your writing is wonderful, Laini.
I'd like to ask one favor though. For those of us who are getting up there in age, can you please make the font larger on these pieces? I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks!

  25. Please, for the love of Gar make that into a book! I was immediately mesmerized! Or "Mizmi-rized"!
